The Sewing Table Finally!

It's been a super crazy week or so moving in and getting settled and getting stuff out of my apartment! I finally got my sewing table set up, I ended up making it smaller because the original was to big for the room it was going into!  The blog I originally found this on doesn't exist anymore and a lot of people ask how to do it, so I thought I'd put up how I did it. It's very easy and cheap!

What you will need:
- 2 short bookshelves, 4 if you want a large table (mine are from Walmart for 16 they seem to be the cheapest)
-1 hollow door from Lowes or Home depot, 2 if you want a large table

Additional, but not necessary
- primer and paint
- polyacrylic
- 4 large L-brackets and screws

If you are painting your door (which you will probably want to otherwise it's scratchy and unfinished) you will want to do that first. ( I'm waiting on this because I think I'd like to paint a design or do something interesting with the top, I haven't decided what yet!)

Put the shelves together and set them where the table will be.

When the door (or doors) are done drying just set them on top! You can then attach an L-bracket underneath to the back of the shelf and the bottom of the door. I forgot to buy some but it's pretty sturdy without them.

...and here it is in action! Although the room is far from done... it still needs a lot of decorating!

  1. You new sewing table looks great! I'd love to have one for myself but my flat is far too small for any extra pieces of furniture... (-:

    1. I can understand small spaces!! I've been sewing in a room for years where I was using the bed in it as my table to cut things and my machine was squished on a small end table! I'm definitely very happy to finally have an actual table and space to work!
